CONTEMPORARY DANCE PLATFORM
NOVEMBER 2014 |
The first Platform with Kethya returning as Amrita’s Artistic Director, our artists were carefully mentored through the creative process with some visually breath-taking results. Many thanks to the Asian Cultural Council whose support enabled us to bring regional experts to watch, critique and mentor our artists following the performance.

Note from choreographer: The piece was inspired by today’s urban environment. Through this piece, I would like to think about the polluted trash in Phnom Penh City by focusing on plastic disposal. I personally support the idea of recycling waste. Artistically, I explore on using physicality in contact with props. I create a visual image through movement and plastic bag. |

Choreographer
Yon Davy
Dancers:
Yon Chantha, Chy Ratana (Leak), Chun Oudum
Note from choreographer: This piece shows the relationship between two people, mother and son. Based on her own story, Davy concentrates on the relationship complexity between mother and son through text, movement and prop. Davy would like also to explore partnering in dance by comparing and contrasting between folkloric trained dance and experimentation.

Nget Rady
Dancers: Nget Rady, Khon Chansithyka, Khon Chansina, Soy Chanborey, Sam Satya
Note from choreographer:
This piece focuses on physical and mental challenges in everyday life. I’m interested in investigating how individual and communal forces impact each other. I’d like to explore the difference between internal and external strength.
